Days of Disney Past: Sweetums

This picture shows Jim Henson in 1990 giving direction to Sweetums, as they prepare for the grand opening of Muppet*Vision 3D on May 16, 1991 at what was then the Disney-MGM Studios.

Days of Disney Past - Delta Dreamflight

I can still remember taking a trip on Delta Dreamflight in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. I loved going through the plane! Delta Dreamflight operated from 1989 to 1998 before being replaced by Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

I wanted to share this picture from the Disney Parks Blog of EPCOT under construction. I find it really inspiring. Happy Friday Eve!

Days of Disney Past - DINOSAUR

Last week marked the 15th Anniversary of Disney's animated feature Dinosaur. The Disney Parks Blog posted a short article remembering the days of Disney past, when Dinosaur first opened at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

In 1998 the attraction now known as Dinosaur first opened as Countdown to Extinction:

I remember experiencing this attraction in 1998 before its grand opening to the public, at a Disney Vacation Club member soft opening. Here's a picture of the ride under construction:

After the release of Dinosaur, the ride was re-themed to include Aladar the iguanadon:

This ride still scares me every time, but I love it! I enjoyed taking a look at the past to remember how I first experienced Countdown to Extinction. (All photo credit to the Disney Parks Blog).

Days of Disney Past - Food Rocks

Food Rocks was one of my favorite shows at Walt Disney World! I love Soarin' but I'm still sad that Food Rocks has gone. Thankfully I can still listen to their awesome hits on sites like D-COT and YouTube. In memory of that great show, here are a couple of pictures to reminisce, from the Disney Parks Blog:

The Excess

The Get To The Point Sisters

I can still remember all the words from The Peach Boys, Neil Moussaka, Chubby Cheddar, The Refrigerator Police, Pita Gabriel, and Fud Wrapper.

Days of Disney Past

The Disney Parks Blog recently shared a memory from days of Disney past that really resonated with me. It was a picture of The Hunchback of Notre Dame stage show that ran from 1996 to 2002 at the Disney-MGM Studios.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame quickly became one of my favorite movies as a child. I remember having an Esmarelda doll, a Quasimodo plush toy, a glittery lunchbox I took to school, Djali socks, a computer game, and I even got a Hunchback of Notre Dame Easter egg! Needless to say, this was one of my all-time favorite Disney shows! I wish it was still on. The acting, singing, dancing and production was fantastic! They really engaged the audience and the set was brightly colored and fun, changing scenery throughout like other Disney shows do. I'm thankful that in the show's absence, I can re-live it through home movies and YouTube videos. Leave me a comment if you remember this show!
