Days of Disney Past - Food Rocks

Food Rocks was one of my favorite shows at Walt Disney World! I love Soarin' but I'm still sad that Food Rocks has gone. Thankfully I can still listen to their awesome hits on sites like D-COT and YouTube. In memory of that great show, here are a couple of pictures to reminisce, from the Disney Parks Blog:

The Excess

The Get To The Point Sisters

I can still remember all the words from The Peach Boys, Neil Moussaka, Chubby Cheddar, The Refrigerator Police, Pita Gabriel, and Fud Wrapper.

Lilo & Stitch Scarf

I got this tropical Lilo and Stitch infinity scarf last week from Hot Topic. I got to use a 10% off coupon that I had which was about to expire. (Score!) It's so cute! I just had to share :)

Disney Princess Notebooks

I just wanted to share some great deals I got on Disney stationery at Target recently. I love notebooks/journals! I like to write down to-do lists, plans for Disney vacations, notes and reminders to myself, and it's always better in a Disney journal! I bought the Snow White journal for planning my upcoming Disney vacation this fall, and the Cinderella journal for my everyday thoughts. They were $7.99 each (much cheaper than the Disney Store!) On the way to the checkout I noticed that cute little Mickey 2015 Planner for 50 cents! Who doesn't need a calendar?! If you're looking for some inexpensive Disney stationery, definitely check out Target!

Pixar In Concert

On February 21st, we headed to Oklahoma City to see the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra play Pixar in Concert.

The concert took place in the Civic Center Music Hall, which was much more modern on the inside than it looks on the outside. It was very clean and had lots of clear sign posts.

They served some adult Pixar themed beverages in the foyer

The orchestra played two nights in a row, Friday and Saturday, and we were attending the second performance. We bought our tickets closer to the event than we probably should have, but luckily got tickets before the event sold out. Tickets weren't as expensive as I thought either, starting at $26.

Thankfully, despite booking late, we had some fantastic seats in the balcony! I did feel vertigo a little from how steep the seats were and also the steps to get to them. I was surprised at how people dressed. I saw everything from ballgowns, to jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes. Two ladies were even dressed in costume as Merida from Brave! There were also a lot more children than I thought.

There were two halves of the show with a 15 minute intermission. They opened with Andy's Birthday from Toy Story. It gave me chills to hear such an epic piece of music performed live. They continued with musical selections from Toy Story while the respective clips from the movie played on the screen behind the orchestra. I didn't expect to see movie clips, but that worked really well and was a great touch.

They moved on to Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, A Bug's Life, WALL-E, Toy Story 2, Cars and closed with Up, which left everyone crying and sniffling at intermission. After the break they came back with Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Monsters Inc., Brave, The Incredibles and ended with Monsters University. They came back with an encore of "You've Got A Friend In Me" , while playing clips from all Pixar movies and ending with the jumping lamp. It was superb!

I never realized how sad Pixar movies can be until I saw it all together like that. Finding Nemo got me teared up, I cried at the Up montage, and got teared up again at Monsters Inc. (when Sulley goes to see Boo) and Toy Story 3 when Andy gives Woody to Bonnie. I fully recommend Pixar in concert to Disney fans!
